HOOPOCAPLYSE: DAVRAA Storms Into PALARO Hungry for Glory

by: Denzel Caliao

DAVRAA is marching into PALARO with fire in their veins and one mission burning in their minds—to protect the crown and prove that Davao Region basketball still runs the court. This is not just another campaign. This is legacy on the line and another history to mark.

For Rhysus Bajenting, this tournament is personal. Every possession could be his last in a DAVRAA jersey, and he plans to make every second count. Expect speed, intensity, and a player ready to empty the tank for the region. On the other hand, Al Damag battled hard from imagining the stage to finally stepping onto it, the shooting guard now carries not only his own ambitions, but the pride of Davao Region behind every shot he takes. Then comes Matt Cayetano and the defending champions’ mentality.
DAVRAA is not entering Agusan as hopeful underdogs—they are entering as the team everyone wants to beat. And champions know one thing better than anyone else: crowns are never given twice. They must be fought for again.

At the center of it all is Coach Jess Evangelio, leading a squad built on discipline, trust and faith. His message is simple, give everything for the school, for the region, and for each other.

And while the lights grow brighter and the pressure gets louder, Macky Pelegrino keeps the team grounded with a reminder that hits harder than any buzzer-beater: stay humble and trust the Lord.

The team does not just play alone but with their determination, yardwork, and faith in God. And because of this:

Davao Region didn’t arrive to participate, but to dominate.
